Ice Skating in Copenhagen

Our ship family went ice skating in downtown Copenhagen last night! We had a COMPLETE blast! There's an amazing outdoor rink right in the heart of downtown that's open all winter long. We are so thrilled that we had the opportunity to go and enjoy such a special outing with our "family."

Nothing more romantic than an outdoor ice rink in a beautiful European city!

Jennifer and her "daughters!"

Swiss daughter Andrea shows off her ice skating skills!

Son BK (India) tried ice skating for the first time! He was such a good sport!

This was also Terrence's (Jamaica) first time on the ice! Because he is so incredibly fit and athletic, he picked up ice skating in no time! As you can see, he's very proud of his new skills. :)

Big Prayer Request for the Ship!

Over the last several months, our crew has been working VERY hard to get our ship ready to sail! Our ship is currently classified as a “cargo ship” and we’ve been working to transform it into a “passenger ship.” We’ve invited three surveyors on board this week to audit our ship and see if we can receive the passenger’s certification. Please be praying that they will award us this certification. If they do, we’ll finally be ready to sail! And what an answer to prayer that would be!

Chinese New Year!

Yesterday was the Chinese New Year! All the Asians on board grouped together to put on an amazing evening celebration for all the ship's company. They turned the entire dining room into a Chinese wonderland with lanterns, Chinese umbrellas, and cherry blossom branches. What a gorgeous sight! We had a wonderful Chinese dinner - what a treat! We LOVE living in an international community and being able to share in holidays and traditions from around the world!

New Crew!

New crew has arrived on the Logos Hope! There are two times a year that people can join OM Ships, in September (when we joined) and in January. We are so thrilled to have so many new crew members - 43 in all! Praise God for new energy and more help to get the ship done!!

Sick again....

Hello friends and family. We apologize for being so silent in the past week. We've fallen sick again! We can't remember the last time we've been this sick! Both of us have had to miss many days of work this month. This past week we both had a terrible flu plus colds! There's a flu going around Denmark that is the worse flu strain they've had in 30 years. So we've mostly been laid up in bed for the past week. :( Hopefully we'll have more exciting news to report soon!

MC Training

Yesterday, we completed a Master of Ceremonies (MC) training, specifically on sharpening our skills for MC'ing ship events. We've had the privilege to already MC a few events on board, but now with more training, we hope to MC many more events! We both really enjoy it. Each on board event (Sunday service, school visits, conferences, concerts, etc.) has an MC, so especially once we start to sail, we'll have numerous opportunities to put into practice all the training we've received. We can hardly wait!

Prayer Night

Last night, a group of us from the ship joined in with several local Danes at a nearby church to pray for the country of Denmark. This week, churches from around the country are gathering together for a special week of prayer for their nation as a whole. We had the opportunity to pray with several Danish Christians from many different local churches. In theory, Denmark is a “Christian” country but only a few percent go to church. What a privilege to be able to join with local Danes to intercede for their country. We'd ask you to keep the Danes in your prayers as well.

Sick....

Well, we had our first real bout of sickness this week. Unfortunately, our water supply became contaminated on Tuesday and almost half of the crew became very ill. Both of us have been out of work since Tuesday and are just finally starting to feel a bit better. Please pray that we'll soon be feeling 100%.

Reading the Bible chronologically in 2009

One of our New Year's resolutions is to read through the whole Bible in 2009. Many of the ship's company is joining together in this goal and reading through the Cover to Cover Bible this year. The book takes the reader through the Bible chronologically, following the events of Scripture as they happened. We are really excited about this approach to reading God's Word. As the New Year is upon us, we'd encourage you to think about goals and resolutions for the New Year too. We are excited to see how God reveals Himself to us in 2009 through reading His Word in completion.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to all of you! Happy 2009!! We had a wonderful New Year's Eve last night! Following a great New Year's dinner, we had a meaningful program in which the ship's company had the chance to share about God's blessings in 2008. What an encouragement to hear how God's been working throughout this past year. After the program, the dining room was transformed into a cool cafe complete with live jazz! We socialized and mingled until a few minutes before midnight when the entire crew went up to our top deck to count down the minutes until the new year. At exactly midnight, fireworks starting lighting up the night sky. We have never seen sooooo many fireworks in all our lives! Literally, there were fireworks going off all around us. From our high vantage point, we could see hundreds of fireworks going off all throughout the city simultaneously. The sight was one we will never forget. We were awstruck. What an unbelievable sight! We watched the fireworks until our toes and fingers started going numb and then headed back into the ship for a night of traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing! We will forever remember our 2009 New Year in Koge, Denmark!

Fun to dress up again!

What a special treat! Our chef made home-made egg nog for New Year's! YUMMY!
